About Me
Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m Jamison Zink (most call me Jamie), an emergency physician and landscape photographer based in Port Angeles, WA. When I’m not working in the Emergency Department, you can find me either trip planning or outdoors in search of the best light.
I fell in love with the art and science of landscape photography during my senior year of college in 2014. I had just been accepted into medical school and suddenly had more time on my hands than I was used to. I’d always been interested in photography, and as such thought it would be fun to put my newfound time into learning everything I could about it. I had no idea at the time that this self-assigned project would turn into a lifelong passion.
That fall semester, I went to the school library and checked out several textbooks on all aspects of photography. I spent months reading and practicing on an old camera that I was given several years prior, eventually gaining the confidence to start selling prints and displaying at local galleries.
My photography continued through med school and residency and proved to be a great outlet during times of stress. I found spending time outdoors and capturing beautiful moments in nature to be incredibly therapeutic. This was particularly helpful during my residency, when the COVID pandemic completely collapsed our healthcare system and brought the world to its knees. There were days, especially while in the ICU during the winter of 2020/21, when going to work felt like going to battle. Despite the fight that we faced on the frontlines as healthcare workers, to me, landscape photography brought balance to the chaos, and continues to provide a much-needed coping mechanism and relief.
I hope that in sharing my work, I can bring you the same sense of joy that I experience while capturing each moment. Please take a look around, and thanks again for stopping by.
